Redefined AXAYA Rules Mark a New Era for Hybrid Combat Obstacle Sport

The Secretariat of the World O-Sport Federation (WOF) has officially announced the final approval and global implementation of the redefined Axaya rules and technical structure, effective from January 2025 for all member countries.

Over the past three consecutive years, Axaya has been featured in World Championship and Asian Championship events throughout 2023, 2024, and 2025. During this period, the format underwent extensive technical evaluation, competitive testing, and structural redefinition before receiving final approval from the federation.

Axaya is designed as a hybrid combat sport format consisting of two competitive stages:
80-meter OCR (Obstacle Course Racing)
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
The combination of obstacle-based athletic performance, speed, endurance, and combat techniques has positioned Axaya as one of the most innovative and modern formats within the global hybrid sports movement. The competition system is also adaptable for both individual and relay team events, expanding its potential for international tournaments and multi-format championships.

According to WOF technical officials, the successful organization of international events over the last three years played a crucial role in refining the regulations, standardizing the competition framework, and finalizing the official ruleset.

Following the federation’s announcement, several member nations have already expressed interest in developing national programs, launching leagues, and hosting official Axaya competitions — reflecting the growing international attention toward the sport.
Sports analysts believe that Axaya, with its dynamic structure, high spectator appeal, and fusion of athletic and combat disciplines, represents a new generation of future-oriented hybrid sports. Experts also suggest that the format has the potential to evolve toward inclusion in major multi-sport events and could eventually find a pathway to the Olympic Games.
